Machine maintenance

A classifier classifies powder by applying a force to the powder with the blades, which grind the powder by impact, and the airflow generated by rotation. The mill, which combines both functions, was consulted when it stopped abnormally due to high vibration. Due to unstable behaviour, the mill seemed to have stopped abnormally after only two weeks of operation. The mill was therefore likely not to be able to obtain the desired grain size and grain size distribution bands, so we investigated the causes of the vibration, repaired the bad parts and carried out maintenance to stabilise the equipment and improve quality.

Disassembling and checking the inside

ミル分解中 — The grease is carbonised. It is thought to be generating a considerable amount of heat

Inspection and examination of each component

分級軸 — Bearing and oil seal mating parts were worn. Repairs were carried out

中間軸 — Here, too, the bearings, oil seals and collar mating were worn

分級羽根 — There were also defects in the bore mating area and in the stabilising factor against rotation

粉砕羽根溶接不良 — Feathers. Several welds between the vane plate and pin were cracked. The mating area was also defective

After repair of parts

分級軸補修後 — Most parts have been repaired. The mating parts are now in a near-new condition

粉砕軸補修後 — The grinding shaft has also been repaired in most areas and is as good as new

カラー補修後 — The oil seal mating collar has also been repaired

新品部品 — The components used have also been changed from the original ones to make them more stable

Assembly complete

ミル組み立て完了 — The exterior remains unchanged, but inside the structure is quite different from the original due to modifications and repairs
