Last lathe job

The last job of a veteran lathe operator

An elderly lathe operator, who was a preferred client due to his knowledge of the machines in which the parts to be machined were incorporated, his skill in machining the parts and the high quality of the finished product, has passed away. The number of parts machined in Corona decreased, and the last job was the machining of a rotary valve, which we requested.

From his young age, he was also involved in machine maintenance and machined each part with the function of the machine as a whole in mind. He was one of the teachers who sometimes visited the machining centre to learn from me, and taught me many things, such as the characteristics of lathe machining and what kind of machining was most suitable for each part.
I remember that the rotary valves we assembled fitted together perfectly and clearly rotated more smoothly than others.

May he rest in peace.
